Mass Effect Andromeda Super Deluxe Edition is a sci-fi RPG set in the Andromeda galaxy. It gives birth to a new story away from the original Mass Effect trilogy. After playing this game, the title has both strengths and weaknesses.
The robust feature of this game is combat. Andromeda has fluid combat with better mobility. It uses a flexibility skill system where you can mix and match different abilities from combat. In this way, you can play in multiple styles.
The game revolves around five open-world planets, each with its unique environment. A vehicle, “The Nomand”, is used, similar to Mako from the Mass Effect 1. This vehicle makes driving fun around planets fun. There are Remnant vaults which function as puzzle-based dungeons.
Story & Characters
Andromeda takes place 600 years later in a new galaxy. You play as Ryder, a Pathfinder who must explore new planets and make them habitable for humans and other creatures. But in the beginning, things go wrong, and the planets they think of as paradise are a massive danger for them. A hostile Alian race called the Kett is standing in the way.
Although the story has some interesting ideas, most of the plot points feel underdeveloped. The villains, Kett, have a scary concept, but their motivation is never fully explained. This game introduces a mystery about ancient Remnant technology.
One of the best parts of the Mass Effect series is its memorable companions. Unfortunately, Andromeda’s characters are hit or miss.
Cora Harper: A human biotic who was considered to be the next Pathfinder, but Ryder take the role instead. She is loyal but a bit dull.
Liam Kosta: A funny human squad mate.
Vetra Nyx: A female Turian smuggler who protects her younger sister.
Drack: A Krogan warrior who has a rough personality but is one of the more likeable squad members.
Peebee: An Asari scientist who is quirky and energetic. She knows very well about Remnant technology.
Jaal Ama Darav: A member of the Angara, a new Alian race. He is probably the most interesting member. He helps you to learn about Andromeda’s native species.
Some of these characters have great moments. But they don’t feel as deep as the squad mates from the original trilogy.
