Athia is suffering from a strange curse known as the Break, which turns people into monsters and destroys the land. The Cuff gives Frey magical powers and makes her resistant to this corruption. With no way back home, she is forced to fight for survival.
In Athia, Frey meets different people, but the central city, Sepal, feels empty and lifeless. The side characters are not very memorable. Most of the time, it’s just Frey and Cuff talking. Sometimes their conversations are funny, but often the jokes feel forced or awkward.
The main villains are former leaders known as the Tantas, who have become corrupted and dangerous. They serve as the main bosses of the game. The story tries to be emotional and epic, but much of the middle part feels slow and uninteresting. Only near the end does the plot finally get exciting.
